I have been in San Diego the last several days for the National WIC Association 2010 Biennial Nutrition Education & Breastfeeding Conference, and this town is right up my alley. Its a fantastic combination of good food (seafood AND Mexican!), interesting things to do, and gorgeous waterfront scenery all packed into a surprisingly small, user-friendly space.Ive had many marvelous meals, two starring seafood. The first was from the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Restaurant, which was serving steamed Mediterranean mussels and Venus clams as well as citrus-marinated swordfish for restaurant week. The second was from the Fish Market haddock with a side of parsley potatoes and basil tomatoes. The Cosmopolitan wins for relaxing outdoor ambiance and unique, bold food. The Fish Market takes the prize for jaw-dropping ocean view, entertaining old fishing pictures, and classically-prepared simple seafood.
Also, I would be remiss if I didnt mention that I went to the most sophisticated, charming Italian restaurant called Bice and they had a cheese bar.Heaven.
