roasted sardines
When Lloyd and I go out for dinner, which were doing every day this week while were in Charlottesville, VA, we often order 1-2 starters and a single entre then split and share it all. Last night we went to a casual French restaurant called Zinc, and after less than a minute with the menu, I quickly warned him not to count on sharing my starter.One glance and he knew exactly what I wanted to order roasted sardines. Theyre an acquired taste that most people havent acquired so I think our waitress was a little taken aback when I ordered them.But I just have to take advantage when I see them on a menu. I love the simple, really quite subtle taste of fresh sardines especially when paired with a good French crusty bread.And Lloyd tried a bite after all then went back for another!
If you want to try them at home, heres a recipe.I think you could probably get the scaling and cleaning done at your seafood counter.Im not even that hardcore.
