Statement on the passing of Mike Voisin
WASHINGTON, DC February 2, 2013 Mike Voisin was a giant in more than just the seafood community. He was a husband, a father, a son, a friend, a businessman, a leader and a man of faith who embodied principle in everything he did.
He was unwavering in his advocacy for seafood and for the men and women who work tirelessly to bring it to American tables. Inside the beltway there is a little known saying that it is not who you know in Washington but how you are known that matters. He was known as a man of character, whose honesty and drive in advocacy for others was unmatched.
He was comfortable and unassuming whether on the dock or at the White House. Only a man of such personal and professional integrity can transition between those worlds and remain himself.
His vision, understanding and leadership will be missed not only by the National Fisheries Institute but by the entire seafood community and anyone who knew him. Today our thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Mike Voisin was truly a giant.
