Consumer Trend Research to Dbut at GSMC
Global Seafood Market Conference will unveil new Restaurant Study
WASHINGTON, DC January 24, 2013 The National Fisheries Institute (NFI) will unveil the results of a custom study commissioned specifically for the Global Seafood Market Conference on Thursday January 31.
Its a fascinating look at consumer trends that you wont see anywhere else, said Judy Dashiell, NFIs Senior Vice President. In a data driven world the kind of insight this type of research provides can be invaluable.
From whether the healthy eating movement really drives seafood sales to which specific geographic markets are expanding their seafood palates, the study covers topics that will help suppliers and restaurateurs alike.
Is it marketing or menu selection that drives seafood sales in restaurants? asked Dashiell. Our new research shows that may depend on how often you eat seafood. Heavy seafood users decided to order seafood before they got to the restaurant 67 percent of the time. While light seafood users decided in advance only 48 percent of the time. This type of information can be an important consumer snap shot that has the potential to affect a wide array of business decisions.
The study, commissioned by NFI, was conducted by the NPD Group, a leading market research firm that operates in 20 countries tracking trends on everything from blenders and Barbies to cars and candy.
NPD Group will present the research during Thursdays 9:00 AM Plenary Session.
For more than 60 years, the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) and its members have provided American families with the variety of sustainable seafood essential to a healthy diet. For more information visit: www.AboutSeafood.com.
