poke bowl breakfast
My seafood for breakfast habit continues this week with a Hawaiian twist. Here in Hawaii we have a delicious dish known as the poke bowl, which I ordered yesterday for a late lunch at PaIna Caf.The word poke (poe-kay) means to slice or cut in Hawaiian, but it makes my tummy growl every time I hear it, because it has come to mean cubed Ahi tuna sashimi in a mouthwatering marinade of soy sauce, sesame oil, onion, seaweed, and chili pepper.A poke bowl simply makes a meal out of poke by putting it over rice.I had a bit of the fish and rice from my bowl leftover from lunch, so I served it alongside a scrambled egg for breakfast today.
