Former Seafood Wholesaler Pleads Guilty to Fish Fraud

The Mobile Press-Register reports that John J. Popa has pled guilty to the receipt of merchandise imported contrary to law and falsely labeling fish which is a violation of the Lacey Act. Mr. Popa was indicted, along with 2 other individuals, in January, 2010, for conspiring to falsely label, smuggle and misbrand seafood. Mr. Popa could face almost four years in prison.
