Florida Seafood Company Pleads Guilty for Mislabeling Shrimp and Salmon
The Department of Justice announced that Mark Platt of Boca Raton, and Shifco, Inc., located in Hialeah, pled guilty to violations of Federal law by falsely relabeling frozen chum Salmon and shrimp with incorrect country of origins. Mislabeling of fish and shrimp is prohibited by the Lacey Act and the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act. Sentencing is scheduled for March 11, 2011.
