My city
This week I’m lucky to be staying with two sets of good
friends here in Washington,
DC. I’m very grateful for their
hospitality and really enjoy the chance to catch up. Not surprisingly, my
appreciation manifests in food! Monday night I took the first couple I stayed
with to dinner at Olazzo in downtown Bethesda. I chose the
linguine with clams and white wine sauce. It was the perfect light meal for a
warm spring night.
Now I’m staying with another couple, and got the ingredients
for a swordfish dish that I plan to make for them tonight.
The longer I’ve been in town, the more I realize how
much I miss Washington. I am officially a city girl, and
as irrational as it sounds, crave the vibrant hustle and bustle of a big
metropolis. Though the laid-back Hawaiian lifestyle certainly has its
advantages too. According to a new study from the American Journal of Preventive Medicine,
the state you live in may affect your state of mind. And Hawaii seems to have a positive influence – only 6.6
percent of Hawaiians said they frequently experienced mental distress, versus
14.4 percent of people who live in Kentucky. Interesting study, though I have to
believe it’s more about finding the right fit than anything. Check out this fun

City, to learn about the city in which you might be most content.
