Make MyPlate Pinterest Challenge: snapper with wild rice, radicchio, and oranges from @RealSimple

A couple years ago, the food pyramid was replaced with a plate to show people how to eat a balanced meal. MyPlate is divided in to four parts; two of the parts are filled with fruits and vegetables, one part with grains, and one part with protein. ChooseMyPlate.gov has information on the best types of foods to choose from within each of these groups. When it comes to protein, the advice is Twice a week, make seafoodfish and shellfishthe main protein food on your plate.
But in the spirit of showing people how to eat right versus telling them, MyPlate recently created Pinterest boards that highlight healthful recipes from all over the most popular recipe websites. And the fish entres board is mouth-watering! Were so excited about this new go-to resource for guaranteed good-for-you fish recipes that weve decided to try them out and tell you what we think. Starting today, the homemade recipes on the Dish on Fish blog will come exclusively from the MyPlate fish entres Pinterest board. Meal planning just got a lot easier!
Make MyPlate fish dish number one is snapper with wild rice, radicchio, and oranges, which I made for dinner last night. The original recipe called for trout, but we had snapper in the freezer, so snapper it was. Im hard-pressed to imagine a type of fish the sweet, tart, and crunchy topping wouldnt pair well with. I have no clue whats up with the recipe only getting three out of five stars we thought it was amazing. And if you moved around the layers of wild rice, fish, radicchio, and oranges a bit, youd have a perfectly portioned MyPlate.
