seafood cheesecake from @nephelesca
One of the best parts about living in Hawaii is that you can vacation to winter vs. away from it. We just got back from a long weekend in South Lake Tahoe, during which we realized snow and blustery winds are whimsical and wonderful when theyre only in your life for a few days.
It was also fantastic seeing old friends that have moved on from Hawaii (that will be us soon too, unfortunately).
I loved skiing at Heavenly, but my favorite activity was a girls-only dinner at Nepheles followed by after dinner drinks in the on-site hot tubs. We determined this concept would only work in a ski town without being a little questionable, but Nepheles pulls it off with class. The restaurant was quaint and cozy with excellent service and delicious, comforting food. We had to order the famous seafood cheesecake as an appetizer, which photographed a lot less sophisticated than it tasted. It was rich and smoky and tart.
And the hot spas as they call them werewell, heavenly on our sore legs after a day on the slopes. Today were back in Hawaii, concluding the winter season. Three days was just right.
