Nothing says welcome to Beaufort, SC like a creamy bowl of shrimp and grits. We may not have an address yet (the house hunt is a work in progress), but we made it all the way across the country to coastal South Carolina and are already in the swing of the South. Both the people and the food are warm and comforting. Our first taste of perhaps the most quintessentially southern seafood dish was last night at Emilys. They have an award-winning shrimp and grits that features spicy sausage. This was half a portion, which I could only eat about half of because it was so rich. Of course it was amazing, but a little went a long way. Plus, my tummy is getting a bit squished these days, so small portions in regular intervals are sort of my style!
