NFI Set to Testify Before the United States Trade Representative at the International Trade Commission on USMCA
Reston, VA – December 3, 2025 – Morgan Bell, Director of Public Policy at the National Fisheries Institute, will testify at the International Trade Commission on Friday December 5 at 11:15am as part of a hearing on the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). Bell will urge the United States Trade Representative (USTR) to reaffirm the Administration’s commitment to the agreement and preserve its existing market access for all fish and seafood products.
“In an era of global trade volatility, the USMCA provides a dependable framework that shields U.S. seafood companies from the uncertainty of tariffs, retaliatory measures, and supply chain disruptions,” said Bell.
“What’s more, beyond being a trade model that supports thousands of U.S. fishing families and small seafood businesses it benefits U.S. processors, distributors, restaurants, and foodservice establishments dependent on an uninterrupted flow of affordable, high-quality seafood.”
During her testimony, Bell will note the serious economic consequences withdrawal from USMCA or any weakening of its seafood provisions would have on the industry.
