In case you routinely get your health and nutrition guidance from a digital tech, consumer electronic news outlet this post is for you.
A recent article in CNET highlighted The 8 Foods You’re Eating That Likely Contain Microplastics. Following this gripping headline the article begins by noting, “According to the US Food and Drug Administration, current evidence doesn’t suggest that the levels of microplastics in food are a risk to us.” Soooo… here are some non-risky foods you should avoid. Makes sense to me. Certainly, doesn’t sound like clickbait garbage at all.
The first food is seafood. Despite the lack of risk announced at the outset, the author suggests people eat fewer clams, mussels, oysters, catfish, halibut, flounder and cod. Given that science tells us people breathe in more microplastics than they eat here we have the medical experts at CNET telling us to avoid excellent sources of lean protein, healthy omega-3’s, iron, and B12. Because who wants to eat something that supports muscle repair, heart health, and metabolism? Yuck.
In case you think the senseless absurdity of this article stops there, you should know that number 7 is “fruits and veggies” and number 8 is “proteins.” With that, enjoy your slow, painful, microplastic-free starvation.
