NFI Co-Sponsors Import Safety Summit

Cross Section of Industry Plans Event to Talk Safety and Strategy

June 9, 2008 Washington The National Fisheries Institute (NFI) announces it is joining 11 other trade associations to sponsor the first-ever Import Safety Summit, scheduled for July 9th in Washington, D.C. Top industry executives will be on hand, as well as the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Michael Leavitt.

This is an opportunity for producers, processors, restaurants and retailers to get together and share strategies and practices that are working to ensure the continued safety of imported products, said NFI President John Connelly.

Never before has such a diverse mix of industry leaders come together to review successful supplier management practices and discuss ways to strengthen public-private partnerships with a singular focus on import safety.
